Czech radio and Academy of Classical Music announce the 54th Concertino Praga 2020

In 2020 the 54th annual edition of the international competition Concertino Praga will take place with the subtitle Antonín Dvořák International Radio Competition for Young Musicians 2020.

Description of the competition
Since 2020, there have been two co-organizers of the competition - Czech Radio and Academy of Classical Music. The competition has 3 rounds with the final one in the form of a public concert. The concert will be held on 12 September 2020 as part of the Dvořák Prague Festival.

The candidates participate at the competition by their recordings (20-30 minutes). The jury listens to and judges numbered anonymous recordings; the jury is not given any information about the candidates (names, age, nationality) before the final ground.

Categories and age limit in 2020
• violin, violoncello, piano, cembalo, accordion, guitar and harp
(musicians who were born on 1.1.2005 or later)

• flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, trumpet, French horn, saxophone and trombone
(musicians who were born on 1.1.2004 or later)

Recommended compositions
The list of recommended works for 2020, the performance of which will have a positive impact on the evaluation of the competition performances, may be one of the criteria and may be associated with special prizes from foundations are listed here.

Prizes
Prizes will be awarded in the form of special purpose scholarships for participation in master classes or contribution to the purchase of a musical instrument at the following amounts:

1st prize – 5 000 EUR
2nd prize – 2 800 EUR
3rd prize – 1 700 EUR

CD recording for the absolute winner in the studio of Czech radio in Prague.

Application requirements
• the recordings of the individual competition pieces in the WAV/PCM format – 16/24 bits – 44.1/48kHz,
• a video recording of the realization of the competition recordings which the jury will view in the case of any doubts associated with how the competition recordings were made (this can be done using a mobile telephone, as the jury will not take the video quality into account),
• the competitor’s profile up to a maximum of 1000 characters,
• two professional photographs of the competitor in print quality, including the photographer’s name (at least 300 dpi),
• complete sheet music (without any personal markings),
• a copy of the competitor’s passport (in the case of foreign competitors),
• the repertoire for the 3rd round of the Competition – at least 2 pieces set for solo instrument and orchestra.
