Jan Schulmeister
The youngest finalist, pianist Jan Schulmeister from the Czech Republic, received the 1st degree honourable mention in Concertino Praga 2020.
Jan Schulmeister has been playing the piano since he was five. In addition to attending the Arts Primary School in Kroměříž, he has also completed a number of master classes both at home and abroad. He has received the highest accolades from a number of piano competitions. For example, he was twice the winner of the National Arts Primary School Competition, twice the absolute winner of the Piano Talents competition in Milan and the absolute winner of the Amadeus and Beethoven’s Teplice competitions. His latest significant success was victory in the César Franck International Piano Competition in Brussels. He cooperates with the Brno Philharmonic, the Moravian Philharmonic in Olomouc, the Prague Chamber Orchestra, the Barocco sempre giovane ensemble, Tomáš Netopil and the Wihan Quartet. He performs regular solo concerts on Czech and international stages and appears at international music festivals such as the Prague Spring, Dvořák Prague or Smetana’s Litomyšl. He issued his first CD at the start of this year.
