Mariia Slashcheva
Mariia Slashcheva from Russia received 2nd prize in Cello Category.
Mariia Slashcheva was born in 2004 in Perm to a family of musicians. Her father is a bayan and guitar teacher, and mother a pianist and accompanist. At three Mariia started taking cello lessons with her mother; they have for many years played as a duo.
At four Mariia went to a music school; at seven she for the first time became a laureate of a national music competition and got three special jury prizes; and at eight won the Grand Prix of the Rostropovich International Competition for Young Musicians in Orenburg (2012).
In 2014 she became a Vladimir Spivakov International Charity Foundation scholarship holder, and a year later maestro presented her a high-quality cello as a gift of his Foundation.
Since 2017 Mariia attends the Central music school at the Moscow Conservatoire. She has participated in David Geringas’ master class and performed at concerts in Russia, Germany and Slovakia solo and with symphony orchestras.
