Syon Najman
Bulgarian cellist Syon Najman, who won the 2nd prize last year with Codam String Quartet at Concertino Praga, won the Cello category this year.
Syon was born on June 9 2002 in Antwerp, Belgium. At the age of six he joined the cello class of Daniela Cherpokova at the National School of Music Lyubomir Pipkov in Sofia, Bulgaria. In 2016 he was accepted in the class of Romain Garioud in L'Haÿ-les-Roses, France.
He is a laureate of international competitions such as Young Virtuosos (Sofia, Bulgaria) and Karl Davidov Cello Competition (Kuldiga, Latvia) as a soloist. With his string quartet he won prices at international competitions such as Hopes, Talents, Masters (Dobrich, Bulgaria) and Concertino Praha (Prague, Czech Republic).
He has worked with internationally renowned cellists Stefan Popov, Vladimir Perlin, Dominique de Williencourt, Romain Garioud, Martina Schucan, and many others. He has participated and performed in summer courses and festivals in Belgium (Musica Mundi), Switzerland (Astona), Italy (International Festival Luci della Ribalta) and Bulgaria (Balchik Music Campus), both as a soloist and chamber musician.
