Winds in a separate category
Concertino Praga offers an opportunity for young musicians to develop talent under professional conditions. It is not merely a diploma or an anonymous cheque. The purpose of this competition is to provide targeted support to those who will grow as a result of it. In 2025, the competition will take place in TWO solo categories.
Solo Category I for piano, violin, viola, cello, harp and accordion
Musicians who are under 16 years of age (i.e. born on 14.9.2009 or later) at the time of the holding of the competition’s final public round may participate in the piano and violin sub-categories.
Musicians who are under 17 years of age (i.e. born on 14.9.2008 or later) at the time of the holding of the competition’s final public round may participate in the viola, violoncello, harp and accordion sub-categories.
Solo Category II for flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, saxophone, trumpet, French horn and trombone
Musicians who are under 18 years of age (i.e. born on 13.9.2007 or later) at the time of the holding of the competition’s final public round may participate in the flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, saxophone, trumpet, French horn, trombone and accordion subcategories.
All instrumental sub-categories are evaluated together in each category.

A specific feature of the Concertino is its South Bohemian Festival, which has been appreciated by the German Trio Florestan (2nd place Concertino Praga 2023) amongst others: “Every moment of our stay in Prague and in South Bohemia was truly wonderful. We enjoyed making music on all the wonderful stages and met so many young and motivated musicians. We were truly able to see how music had brought us together.”
Laureates in the solo category will receive:
- scholarships for studies, instrument purchases and so on up to 5000 euros,
- concert opportunities in the Czech Republic and abroad:
* the final concert at the Dvořák Prague Festival,
* a concert in the Czech Radio Symphony Orchestra’s subscriber series,
* concerts at the Concertina Praga South Bohemian Festival
* concerts in association with the Zlatá Pecka and Dvořák Prague festivals, the Czech Centres, EMCY and other partners,
- the winner – a professional recording at Czech Radio.
Czech contestants have the option of making competition recordings at studio quality.
