Young musicians competed in the finals of the Concertino Praga competition
The Convent of Saint Agnes of Bohemia rang with chamber music performed by young musicians from 7 pm on Friday 15 September. This year, the traditional Concertino Praga radio competition invited chamber ensembles and the Vltava station once again broadcast the final concert live.

The final in the Concertino Praga chamber ensemble competition was shrouded in mystery and tension until the very last moment. For a long time, nobody had any idea as to which instruments would appear on stage or who would be playing them. The central instrument at this year’s final was the piano, which was used by a trio, then became part of a duo along with a clarinet and finally performed with violins twice at the Convent of Saint Agnes. All four chamber ensembles represent the future for both domestic and international music.
Kristian Mráček and Veronika Jaklová had already experienced audiences at afternoon concerts in Bořislavka, while Daniel Matejča and Jan Schulmeister are two of the most reputed young names of recent years. However, none of that gave them an advantage alongside the Comenius Duo or the trio of Helling, Meipariani & Mandler. Everybody had to demonstrate their quality at the Concertina Praga final from square one.
