The jury members for Concertina Praga 2021 are now known
Talented young musicians can register for the solo categories of the 55th year of the Concertino Praga international radio competitions up until 28 February.
Their recordings will be assessed at the end of the March by a five-member international jury consisting of Karel Dohnal (clarinet, the Czech Republic), Justas Dvarionas (EMCY, Lithuania), Shizuka Ishikawa (violin, Japan), Markéta Tomková Janáčková (a music director at Czech Radio, the Czech Republic) and Karel Košárek (piano, the Czech Republic).
The evaluation of the 1st round will take place online using the competitors’ anonymous recordings and the 25 best performances will advance to the following round in April. The competitors will be informed of their advancement to the 2nd round at the beginning of April. The list of the advancing competitors will not be published due to the preservation of anonymity and the public will be subsequently informed of the names of the finalists.
Competitors can register in the competition for chamber ensembles up until 31 March (the organisers always announce this category once every two years). Their recordings will be evaluated along with the twenty-five best soloists. The 2nd round jury will consist of Jacques Ammon (piano, Germany), Jana Brožková (oboe, the Czech Republic), Peter Ferenčík (RTVS, Slovakia), Vladimír Rejlek (trumpet, the Czech Republic), Eckart Runge (cello, Germany), Miroslav Sekera (piano, the Czech Republic) and Bartosz Bryla (violin, Poland), who will choose four soloists and four chamber ensembles for the September final. As in the previous year, the evaluation process will take place remotely and without the physical presence of the juries in Prague.
The final itself will take place as part of the 2021 Dvořák Prague international festival and the winners will be decided by a 9-member jury. The best performances will be evaulated by Christine Anderson (Deutschlandradio, Germany), Jakub Hrůša (principal conductor of the Bamberger Symphoniker, Czech), Václav Hudeček (violin, Czech Republic), Ewa Kupiec (piano, Germany/Poland), Andrew Marriner (until 2019 a solo clarinet of London Symphony Orchestra, Great Britain), Sergei Nakariakov (trumpet, Israel/Rusian Federation), Alexei Ogrintchouk (solo oboist of Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, Russian Federation/Netherlands) and Dmitry Sitkovetsky (violin, conductor, Great Britain). The jury will be supplemented by Milan Langer in the chamber ensemble category and Ivo Kahánek in the solo category.
The four chamber ensembles will compete on Friday 17 September at the Convent of Saint Agnes of Bohemia, while the four finalists in the solo category will perform for the jury with accompaniment by the Czech Radio Symphony Orchestra in the Dvořák Hall at the Rudolfinum one day later on 18 September.
