Jaroslav Skalka
Born in 2010, Jaroslav Skalka belongs to the third generation of a musical family.
Under the guidance of his parents, he has been studying piano and cello since early childhood. He is a student at the Fryderyk Chopin Music School in Mariánské Lázně and a scholarship holder of the MenART Academy in the class of Ivo Kahánek. His piano achievements include victories at the Broumovská klávesa competition, Virtuosi per musica di pianoforte, and the title of laureate of the Prague Conservatory’s Young Piano competition. In 2025, he achieved success at the Anton Rubinstein International Competition in Düsseldorf, where he received a special prize for his interpretation of a work by Francis Poulenc. As a soloist, he has performed with the Karlovy Vary Symphony Orchestra (Mozart’s Piano Concerto in A major) and the West Bohemian Symphony Orchestra (Beethoven’s Third Piano Concerto). He has also appeared at the Dvořák Prague Festival. He is equally successful as a cellist, winning the Jan Vychytil Competition and the national round of the Czech Music School Competition. Jaroslav currently attends grammar school in Mariánské Lázně. In his free time, he enjoys sports and photography.
